Dallas Mavericks preview
The Dallas Mavericks are off to a good start ahead of their regular season campaign. Unbeaten this preseason, they seem to be shooting at full blast. What is even more impressive is his most recent performance; Dallas beat the Charlotte Hornets by a whopping 68 points Wednesday night.
As this is the team’s last preseason game, most of its starters are expected to be left out. That includes Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, and Tim Hardaway Jr. New head coach Jason Kidd has seen more than enough of his key players.
The most notable part of the Mavericks’ preseason was their big man Kristaps Porzingis’s play. After an offseason in which Kidd expressed his desire to bring out the best in the 26-year-old big man, it seems that confidence is beginning to rebound. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban also praised how Porzingis has looked so far.
The Mavericks should look to give some of their young extended minutes in their preseason finale. With the regular season just days away, the team’s veterans could have minimal playing time, if at all. The last thing coaches want is an injury that puts a player in doubt for the start of the regular season.
Milwaukee Bucks preview
The Milwaukee Bucks have been playing the majority of their starters lately, so their five starters could figure in the preseason finale. It remains to be seen how long the starters will play, but the Bucks want to start immediately when the regular season begins.
The Bucks are 1-3 this preseason, but that’s partly because they’ve been experimenting with the youngest players on their roster. The Bucks are coming off a Wednesday night game with the Utah Jazz.
It has been announced that many rotating Bucks players will be out of this game. Among them are Bobby Portis, Rodney Hood, and Donte DiVincenzo. Expect the Bucks to give their younger players more opportunities to show they deserve a few minutes in the rotation during the regular season.
Some of the more interesting contributors throughout the preseason include forward Jordan Nwora and second-round pick Sandro Mamukelashvili.
Mavericks vs Bucks match prediction
Much of what could happen during this final preseason game will come down to what the coaching staff decides to do with some of the veteran players.
This is typically a popular game for NBA teams to rest their starters and provide extra minutes for players who might be struggling to earn a spot on the roster. As of now, it looks like that’s exactly what the Dallas Mavericks are planning to do, as players like Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are expected to be out.
If the Milwaukee Bucks give their starters some playing time, they should have the advantage over the ‘shorthanded’ Mavericks. However, the Bucks should take care of home business before opening night.
